El Salvador

Justin has known for a few years now that he would someday do missions work.  He has been waiting patiently for God to give him the word, "GO".  That time has come.

Justin's first trip to El Salvador was put together by one of his professors who is also a pastor at our church.  Pastor Al, Justin, and two other guys that are Justin's classmates headed down for a full week of reaching out to the people of El Salvador.  The worked with King's Castle Ministries and some other students from a Master's Commission.
460 people were reached and of those, 180 accepted Jesus!  Those are some exciting numbers!  Many of the people that were reached were children.

Justin says that this was a life changing trip for him.  He cannot wait to go back, hopefully next year.
I'm hoping that I will be able to go next year as well.  Justin journaled every day.  Reading those journals along with looking at all of his pictures has me aching to get out there!

For a while now Justin and I have talked about someday adopting a child.  While he was in El Salvador that desire was multiplied.  Justin fell in love with this little girl.

And here is a group photo of many of the people that Justin's group worked with...

The Call

Before Justin and I ever started dating, we both knew that we were called to ministry.  We both have been called to do missions work and to work with children of various ages around the world.  We are very excited about the journey that is ahead of us.  We aren't really sure what this whole thing is going to look like, but we feel ready to lay down our lives and pick up our crosses.  We want to follow Jesus wherever He leads us.

At this point, Justin is about halfway finished with ministry school in preparation for all of the work we will do in the future.  I'm currently working in a preschool getting lots of experience with young children.  Justin just had his first experience traveling out of the country with a missions team to El Salvador.  He says that is was a truly life changing experience and cannot wait to go back.  There are several tentative trips in our future, and we would love to have your support both prayerfully and financially if possible.

If you wish to contribute to our financial need, you can do so by clicking the "chipin" icon (it will direct you to paypal... it is safe!) at the top of the page, or you can e-mail me at: melissaperkins1@hotmail.com for our mailing address.

We want to thank everyone in advance for your loving support :)

I will be back to post pictures from El Salvador soon!
